NPN Members Canadian Pain Coalition, Canadahttp://www.painhurtscanada.ca/ The Canadian Pain Coalition is a partnership of patient pain groups, health professionals who care for people in pain, and scientists studying better ways of treating pain. This partnership began in May 2002 as an initiative of the Canadian Pain Society, which remains an active partner. Our purpose is to promote sustained improvement in the treatment of all types of pain through the development of Charter of Rights and Responsibilities of Pain Patients, the education of professionals, the public, and the government about the significance of the problem of pain in Canada and the declaration of National Pain Awareness Week. Chile Diabetic Association, Chile Founded in 1976, the Chile Diabetic Association's main goal is to help the diabetic patient and his/her family achieve the best possible quality of life. Based upon this goal, we implement educational activities centered on nutritional aspects as well as on disease pathology. We seek to provide our affiliates with benefits such as insulin and other products for diabetes, offer more competitive specialized medical care for members, and offer free nutritional advice. Our activities include nutrition training sessions, professional courses for physicians, and research on diabetes. The ADICH organizes several awareness activities for a variety of opportunities such as World Diabetes Day. Danish Chronic Pain Association, Denmarkhttp://www.faks.dk/ The Danish Chronic Pain Association was founded in August of 1990. Our activities include working towards chronic pain being recognized as a disease, informing politicians and the media what it is like to live with pain, and improving the healthcare system as it relates to people who suffer from it. For our local members, we hold bi-weekly meetings to ensure people with chronic pain have time to share their experiences and learn from each other. European League of Diabetics, Spainhttp://www.eurodile.org The European League of Diabetics was created in 1996. Our objective is to improve quality of life for Europeans with diabetes. We work in the diabetes area and focus on creating awareness surrounding the social needs of people with diabetes in Spain. Of the more than 4 million people with diabetes in Spain, nearly half are unaware of our organization. We are one of five founding members of a larger coalition called the Coalition of Citizens with Chronic Disease. Finnish Pain Patient Association, FinlandThe Finnish Pain Patient Association was founded in 1991. From the beginning, the idea has been to improve pain patient status and increase general awareness of all types of pain. Through out information services, training, phone support, on-line conversation forum, and "Kipupuomi" magazine members have an opportunity to have a more active life in spite of their pain. Our purpose is to create and develop sustained cooperation with home, work, environment, and especially with healthcare. Together with authorities, professionals, associations, and foundations, we develop and promote social security, treatment, rehabilitation, and other issues related to pain patients.
