What is Neuropathic Pain Day?

This year, the Neuropathic Pain Network (NPN) in association with Pfizer is launching its first ever Global Neuropathic Pain Day on 13 October to raise awareness of this debilitating condition across Europe and drive effective communication and diagnosis. Neuropathic Pain Day marks the culmination of a series of events that comprise the “Can you feel my Pain?” campaign, which was initiated and funded by Pfizer.

Why focus on Neuropathic Pain (NeP)?

NeP is a chronic pain condition that can significantly impact a person’s daily functioning and quality of life.

In addition to constant pain, many people with NeP experience difficulty sleeping, a lack of energy or drowsiness.1 The pain can escalate over time and often results in severe disability.

Not only does NeP impact the person’s quality of life, but it also presents a significant economic burden to the health system.3 Many people with NeP remain undiagnosed partly due to the fact that diagnosis is often a complicated process

NeP day is to highlight the plight of people with NeP in a bid to raise awareness and understanding of the condition amongst healthcare professionals and also the general public.
